Abstract:
With over 2 billion people living in countries where development outcomes are affected by fragility, conflict and violence, there is a critical need for new models and resources for humanitarian aid and development assistance to meet these challenges. At the same time, while there is frowing demand among investors for sustainable and impact-driven investing, there are often too few investment-grade opportunities, especially im emerging markers, to fill that demand for impact and risk-adjusted returns. This paper offers an articulation of the humanitarian investing landscape and its main actors and guiding principles, building upon ongoing work that promotes new models and multistakesholder dialogue to complement, not replace, existing humanitarian response mechanisms.
