Abstract:
This chapter looks at the historical evolution of cultural norms relating to war and the environment. It reviews the range and quality of sources available for identification of the cultural concerns most commonly shown about the environmental effects of war. It also evaluates the actual operation of those laws and customs which expressly embody such concerns.
