Abstract:
Who can be interned on the basis of existing international humanitarian law, for what reasons and for how long? By answering those questions, the author wishes to contribute to the academic efforts aimed at clarifying the international legal framework for internement in armed conflict. Moreover, in the process of answering our specific research questions, the author also hopes to contribute to a number of other debates in international law, in particular that on the interaction between simultaneously applicable norms of international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
