The chapter has 4 parts. It begins with a look at IHL. The second part gives a general overview on its activities as humanitarian actor in armed conflict situations. Part three follows the development of the ICRC since the end of the Second World War, and part four examines the relationship between the ICRC and Switzerland. The conclusion of the article contains a list of questions which the ICRC may well have to answer in the near future.
