Abstract:
The meeting was attended by existing National Committees from all over the world. It's particular purpose was to assess the impact of National Committes and their role in the progress made by States in terms of national implementation. It took stock of the developments that had occurred since the 1996 Meeting of Experts. The meeting was intended to encourage the exchange of concrete experience, to define the practical modalities of direct cooperation between Committees, and to propose tools and techniques designed to support, strengthen or diversify the activities of the Committees. The desirability of setting up a system for exchange of information on national implementation and their possibility of active participation in such a system was also discussed.
